Frozen2Late’s Personal Blog

June 14, 2008

frozen2late.blogspot.com

It dawned on me that since my last post, people might disappointed that I am cutting down on my blogging and putting more efforts into working. Things are very busy at work and I just simply don’t have time to blog about things that have been talked about a million times over. Plus, I have the best blog in the world to blog for, The SEO Chicks.

For anyone who still cares about me, reads my twitter and still wants to know more…weird… I also have a personal blog. It is a blogspot blog, not fancy and pretty old. Nothing too personal of course, but fun none the less. I realized that I have been blogging for about 7 years now, but on a different domain.  You might have to do some detective work to see the older blog.

You can read the official Frozen2late personal blog if you feel like you might miss me here. On the blog is a feed from my Youtube Channel, and updates on what I do at work and in my free time.

Enjoy!

Social Media Hair Dye

January 22, 2008

As some of you might already know, I recently dyed my hair blonde (rather I am in the process). The first thing I thought about when dying my hair is how this might affect my Social Media avatars. There are so many reasons having a recognizable avatar is important. It is how you are seen on the web.

In most cases, I use a picture that was taken of me at a family function by my cuz Elizabeth.

I have had black hair for years. It is the avatar for 95% of my Social Media Profiles. Many people don’t even recognize me with blonde hair.

Here is my blonde hair in progress.

So here is my dilemma: What should I do? Do I change all of my avatars to a new picture or leave my old one? Will this change the way I am viewed online? Or even worse, will this make me unnoticeable at conventions and meet ups?

All advice is greatly appreciated.

WikiWine Bottle!

January 16, 2008

                      Wine bottle

Traveling around San Francisco with my friend Liz, we decided to get a California specialty, Two-buck Chuck (really cheap wine) from Trader Joes. Being a really cheap wine, I thought it would be a “twist-off”. However, when we got back to the hotel room (to read our feeds, and catch on up Social News <cough-geek-cough>) we discovered that this gross-cheap-wine has corks!

I instantly remembered this happening to me before, and giving up. Being that my only option would be to go downstairs from the hotel and maybe ask a seedy bar if they could help out, I thought … “Duh! There must be a way to open this bottle without a corkscrew”.

I instantly did a Google search, and thought about the SERPS. This was an interesting search I was doing, and I would’ve changed the wording around but I wanted this specific phrase. I wanted to go with LifeHack because I have trusted their content in the past, at the #4 position. And strangely there was a Metacafe (not a Youtube) video. But the most helpful link was the WikiHow results. Having never used Wikihow, I was skeptical as usual but this site gave me 6 different ways to open my wine bottle. The page was simple, the content I was looking for and 6 Ads by Google. Just how I like it 🙂 Might be a community I will be joining in the near future.
Now I am happy drinking my wine!liz

However, The only thing WikiHow didn’t mention is how much the process of opening the wine bottle without a corkscrew would hurt my friend’s poor finger.

iPod Loyalty

January 10, 2008

ipod It was only two holiday seasons ago that I received my first iPod as a gift from my parents. I was a bit later than the crowd, having enjoyed CD’s and being a musician, not wanting to go digital for what it was doing to the music industry.

It was in my Music Business class in college that it dawned on me that there was no way out and my love for music, gadgets, and culture must evolve and begin to use digital music gadgets.

Automatically, I wanted an iPod. Who had a better marketing campaign, acclaim, and cutting edge design? No other player would be acceptable. When I received my first iPod Nano that holiday season, I was really excited to take part in the downfall of CD sales.

Two years later having been surprised with a 3rd Generation iPod Nano, I have noticed that people who use iPods usually never make a switch to any others like Microsoft’s Zune, or Creatives, no matter how many great reviews these products receive. Surely, other brands have loyal consumers of their own, but it is nothing compared to Apple.

Apple’s release of the iTouch and iPhone this past year continued to further the domination of the industry. The appeal of the brand is just too much to resist. If I wasn’t equally loyal to my Blackberry, I would have purchased an iPhone.

The iPod 3rd Generation Nano is fantastic. I give it 9/10. CNet gave it 8/10 because they were not crazy about the new size, which I agree with. Ergonomically, I am not comfortable holding it….yet. I also love the 3 games it comes with because I am one of these people who can’t always read on my 2 hour train ride home.

Becoming so loyal to the Apple brand also made me feel more comfortable switching operating systems. Scary huh?

It made me wonder: How much popular is Nelly Furtado now compared to her pre-Apple branding days?

Social Media is Fattening!

January 7, 2008

Fattening

Warning: This is a RANT. It is completely my opinion. There are no calories in Social Media…..

In every effort to keep the holiday spirit alive, I have been doing a lot of research on New Years Resolutions and how it played a big role on Social Media websites. Personally, I have made many New Years Resolutions not only for my usage of Social Media, but personally.   How lovely I can intertwine the two!

Call me a pessimist, but I feel that Social Media has a huge impact on my energy levels.  I notice that I have seriously put all of my energy and thought into Social Media.  It tires me out… I look at the time on my laptop and it is already 11PM by the time I am done with my nightly updates. I Sometimes choose to check my readers instead of working out, or walk the dog.  Now this is a contradiction to my Resolutions!!

How does one make Resolutions to do a better job of understanding and keeping up with over 25 Social Networks, reading more blogs and Working out more & Living a Healthy Lifestyle? I try to practice healthy balances… How does everyone else do it?

I saw this post once on Edgadget of a laptop on a treadmill…

I wonder how the people in my office would feel if I moved this into my cubical?!

My Lack of Attention leads to My Lack of Interest

December 28, 2007

ADDEvery morning, while I am on the subway, I like to do many things at once….. but I tend to pile these things on top of each other. Before I walk out the door, my iPod is on. Once I am waiting for the bus, I am texting, reading blogs, planning campaigns, twittering, reading my Facebook messages, and my e-mails. When I finally make it to the subway, I am e-mailing, still planning campaigns, and playing games on my Blackberry. (2 weeks with my Blackberry and I can’t imagine life without it!)

Now Remember- All the while I am listening to music, but how much do I care? I was very disappointed in myself this morning when I realized that I totally neglected being interested in “In Rainbows”, the latest Radiohead album. The whole album is on my iPod, I have read multiple music blogs who named it the best album on 2007, and I don’t even really know the album too well! As a huge music fan, and more importantly, HUGE Radiohead fan…what went wrong?

Radiohead even had to change marketing formats to adjust to their audience (who I am sure is a lot like me)… It was a smart move on their part!

VS ipod

Has my love for gadgets, multi-tasking, and all-things-web taken away from my simple pleasures?

There used to be a time when I bought a CD (what’s that?) and put it in my CD Player and listened to the whole thing on repeat in my room for hours. With everything that I am forced to keep up with everyday, 500 billion things on my to-do list, how will I ever regain attention for things I am interested in?
