NYC & Co. is basically in charge of the tourism market in New York City. In recent news, NYC & Co. is planning to change New York’s slogan from “I <3 NY” to “This is New York”. I am unsure how I feel about this change, but I am sure the numbers will talk for themselves. It is a fact that every New Yorker saves $908.00 per year due to the tax dollars that tourists bring in, so this is not a market that we want to miss out on. Of course there is the argument that the appeal of visiting NYC will never fade, but there is always room for improvement.
Working for the New York City Pocket & Travel Guides, I am constantly sent to events hosted by NYC & Co. Last night’s Business Card Exchange was hosted in Harlem’s Terrace in the Sky. It is really exciting to be able to do my job in the classiest venues, drinking fine wine. I love shaking hands and mingling with the big shots at the top New York City business. Everything is about networking.
At the event I met a lot of potential clients. We spoke about advertising, internet marketing & the view of the skyline from the deck. I learned a few things from the people I spoke to. First of all, nobody had any idea how important SMM (Social Media Marketing) is and they have no plans of learning about it. These are the Marketing Managers of huge New York City companies and they have no idea where the marketing industry is going. I even met a man who didn’t like e-mailing people. Secondly, two men in the course of the night referred to woman as “pains in the ass”.
Currently I am reading reviews on the Blackberry Curve. What a beauty!
